Basically just a “why i watch MMA” music video. Pretty generic topic, but I wanted to show my take on the subject. There are a lot of MMA MVs out there that seem to only showcase big knockouts, so I made an effort to include a few slams, takedowns and submissions as well. Quebec native and UFC mixed martial artist Georges St-Pierre stands 5′10, 170 lbs. Quebec native and former National Hockey League enforcer Georges Laraque(notes) stands 6′3, 253 lbs. (though likely a few more since his last NHL game was back on January 17th). So before turning his focus to coaching on Season 12 of the Ultimate Fighter against noted Pittsburgh Penguins’ fan Josh Koscheck, St-Pierre accepted a friendly challenge from buddy Laraque to a three-round grappling match at the UFC welterweight champion’s gym in Montreal.After racking up 1126 penalty minutes and over 130 fights in his NHL career, Laraque’s toughness on the ice couldn’t translate over into the ring as St-Pierre won all three rounds. After the match, Laraque said he was impressed with the MMA star’s ability, despite the size difference: “That’s much harder than an NHL game or a hockey fight,” Laraque told Landsberg following the tilt. “It’s unbelievable, I couldn’t imagine fighting someone my own size. For his size, he’s stronger than me.” Give Laraque credit even thought he didn’t manage a single takedown of St-Pierre. Laraque is used to the NHL style of fighting where it’s grapple / grapple / grapple / hold / punch / punch / grapple / hold / linesmen break up fight way too early. The middle man in all of this was TSN Off the Record host Michael Landsberg, a mutual friend of the Georges that helped set up the match which was broadcast on Friday’s show. www.tsn.ca

UFC Undisputed 2010 is a mixed martial arts video game featuring Ultimate Fighting Championship properties and fighters developed by Yuke’s and published by THQ. It is scheduled for release on May 28, 2010, for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and for the first time PlayStation Portable. It is the second game to be released under THQ’s 2007 agreement with the UFC and it is a sequel to the successful UFC 2009 Undisputed. On February 23rd, video game retailer GameStop announced that James McSweeney was one of four exclusive pre-order bonus unlockable fighters. On March 2nd, Marcus Jones was unveiled as the second fighter included in the pre-order. On March 9th, Brendan Schaub was announced as the third bonus fighter. On March 16th, Roy Nelson was announced as the fourth bonus fighter. The full roster is expected to be finalized and revealed between March 15 and April 10. Three legendary fighters will be added as PS3 exclusives. These three fighters are Royce Gracie, Jens Pulver, and Dan Severn. Along with the three exclusive fighters will be five exclusive ultimate fights with each of those being added to a special blu-ray disc that will ship with the Playstation disc.
